Terry Clark

Terry’s journey to massage therapy and bodywork is, literally, a product of following his dreams; as much a spiritual quest as a path to a new profession. While earning a Master of Arts degree in Transformative Theories and Practices, Terry was involved in a variety of transpersonal studies such as human consciousness, religion and spirituality, the inner life, dialogue and listening, emotions and the soul, spiritual paths for men, ideals, intuition and guidance. All helped him to accept his Vietnam combat experiences and re-awakened his interest in the healing professions.

Although Terry has been trained in a variety of massage techniques, include relaxing Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, myofascial release and integrative reflexology, he has a deep interest in "energy work" such as Reiki and Healing Touch. He recognizes that our hands are tools of compassion and healing that are connected directly to the heart. There is no stronger conductor of the universal life force that the human hand. Practices such as Reiki and Healing Touch use the hands to channel this universal life force through the practitioner to the client and allow the client’s own healing ability to restore balance and harmony. Reiki and Healing Touch techniques may be applied separately or incorporated into a massage to meet a client’s individual desires and needs. This combination is especially effective for mature clients and those who have sensitivities that make some massage too painful. His training and personality allow him to use a very gentle touch or even work without touching your body at all. His objective is to do what works best for you.

Terry is nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB) and a Maryland Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). He is certified as a Reiki Master in traditional Usui Reiki through the International Center for Reiki Training and is certified as a Rainbow Reiki Practitioner II, Body of Light and Meeting the Angels through the Reiki-Do Institute International. His teacher for both forms of Reiki is Lynn McBride Boggess, Virginia Center for Reiki Training. Terry received training in Meeting the Angels from Walter Lubeck at the Virginia Center for Reiki Training. Terry is a Certified Intergative Reflexologist^® through the Claire Marie Miller Seminars by instructor Tracey Moon. He is a Healing Touch Practitioner, is certificatied in orthopedic massage by the Orthopedic Massage Education and Research Institute and is currently studying Zero Balancing. He is a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (AMBP).

Terry earned a Master of Arts degree in Transformative Theories and Practices from Atlantic University and received his training in therapeutic massage from Anne Arundel Community College. His first college degree is a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Northern Arizona University which was followed by a 40-year career in natural resources management – mainly forests, water and wetlands. He says that may seem to be a far cry from massage but his natural resources career focused on sharing his love of nature with other people.
